Children at Columbus Preschool are valued as authentic explorers and adventurers. Through this creative exploration, observation and participation, children learn to value themselves and others. They learn about their individual affinities, their family connections, their relationships to the city and the neighborhoods in which they live. They learn about a world that continues to inspire and inform throughout their lives.
At school we are child centered in our outlook. We are keen observers of what and how children like to learn. The teachers’ roles are to serve as the child’s guide and coach, and to support them in using tools and materials as learning resources. They facilitate learning and engage children at their individual points of entry. They choose themes that are relevant to their groups and research and explore these changing themes every year.
